It was dark out, and cold. The rain pelted down on him and he lay against the concrete steps; his hair stuck to his head, creeping into his blood shot eyes. The world around him was spinning, but Dainton couldn’t stand up and walk to shelter. He’d tried twice and his balance just wasn’t good enough. The blonde jock toppled over and ended up cutting his head on the step, and dislocating his thumb. Not that he’d actually realised what he’d done. Instead, Dainton just lay on the path waiting for his trip to disappear. It wasn’t exactly the safest way to spend the evening but he didn’t usually react this way to the pills he’d popped. He was obviously having some sort of bad reaction.
His stomach churned and he knew he might actually vomit. He didn’t want to but as Dainton tried to turn and lean away from his body in case he was going to vomit; his head crashed once again into the floor. He groaned loudly and lay on his side; he was agitated and his hands sparked with a tremor every now and then. His blue eyes rolled back in his head and he coughed a little. It was the first time he’d had any sort of reaction to any sort of drug, and really it couldn’t have happened at a worse time. It was rare that Dainton took a hit alone, but it was his dead brother’s birthday and he didn’t feel like sharing it.
It had been a pretty crappy day all around. He’d received a letter from his best friend from Chicago; Jake was appealing against his sentence, and had asked Dainton to stand up in court and basically lie for him. He’d made a stupid mistake of leaving it out, and his father had read it. His father had gone berserk. They’d argued all afternoon; despite the fact that Dainton was already in a bad mood due to it being his brother’s birthday. Or it would have been if he was still alive. After hours of arguments, Dainton had stormed off; wanting to be alone. He needed to forget what had happened. He needed to make the pain go away.
He’d bought a bottle of vodka; the bottle clasped in his hand- three quarters gone. He had gone to get some pills, but his usual dealer was out. He found some random guy and bought some pills. His adventure had taken him to the pier and things had gotten a little out of control. Dainton lay still on the pavement, twitching every now and then; his head bruised and bleeding. His white tee shirt and blue jeans stuck to his body. He closed his eyes wondering if he’d ever wake up.

you're the one that i should never take, but i can't sleep until i devour you - - - - - Just talk to him next time he calls, he asked about you Katya’s mother stated as they both were walking downstairs. Really, he decided to ask about me five years later since he abandoned me, since he abandoned us
Katya replied as she turned around to make sure she made eye contact with her mother when she said that. He’s still your father Katya, and I don’t want you to hate him her mother retorted as she followed Katya into the kitchen. Well you should have tried telling me that five years ago and maybe I would have listened, but seriously mom, just drop it ok, please…. Katya said simply as she opened the fridge door to pull out the orange juice carton and grabbed a class from the cupboard and started to pour herself a drink. Her mother observed her as she leaned on the counter wondering what was going through her daughter’s mind. Suddenly, her mother smiled a little and as Katya sat down, she noticed the random smile as she swallowed the cold beverage and asked her mother what? why are you smiling? Katya asked with a small smile, loving when her mother would smile because she rarely did so. When you were eight years old, you’re father would take you to the markets and would let you pick the fruits for the week, and every time you came home, all you had in the bag was oranges, remember that? her mom said with a slight laugh and smile. Katya’s smile was wiped clean however. That’s it she thought to herself as she got up and started to make her way out of the kitchen. Katya, Katya! Her mother said trying to follow her. You just don’t know when to stop do you Katya said as she walked to the door sliding her shoes in her small feet and grabbing her jacket as she opened the door. Katya where are you going? It’s pouring outside! Her mother said in a worried tone. Somewhere where I won’t have to hear about the ‘great’ dad I used to have Katya said firmly as she walked out of the house and ran to her car to avoid getting wet. Turning the ignition on immediately, Katya put her car in reverse and pulled out of her lot as she put the gear in drive and drove off, heading towards the pier. So stupid she thought to herself as she turned the radio on and raised the volume to try to clear out the thoughts and voices in her head. Katya increased her speed a little as she made the necessary turns to get to the pier, almost losing control at one point, but regained it quickly. Pulling up to the pier parking lot Katya bit her lip as she felt her eyes water a little but she didn’t let a tear drop, not at least until she got out of the car with her rain jacket on as she was making her way to the end of the deck of the pier, the rain immediately falling down on her as she felt a lump in her throat, but as she was headed towards the steps, she saw a male figure who was laying there, she wasn’t sure if he was passed out or awake so she treaded carefully forward until she stopped right in front to see if the guy was ok, but this guy wasn’t a stranger. Dainton!?!? She said more worried than shocked as she saw his bloody face and head, with his eyes that were barely open. Dainton she said again as she bent her knees down moving his shoulder a little to see if he was conscious, he didn’t look good at all, why is he here she thought to herself as she looked down at his hand with the bottle of alcohol and figured he was just drunk. Dainton, come on, let’s get you up she said as she wrapped her hands around his shoulders trying to lift him up, but it was harder than it looked…… .[/div] TEMPLATE BY VIKA OF CAUTION.

Dainton lay on the floor and he barely noticed as he was spoken to by a girl. His eyes flickered but nothing really happened. He couldn’t register who she was or what she was saying. The fact that she was saying his name really meant little to him at that time because he wasn’t really sure who he was, let alone what he was doing lying on the pavement. He yawned a little and gargled as he tried to speak, but failed miserably. He looked at the girl who bent down next to him; he thought he recognised her but his processing was out. She repeated his name and he managed to move his head in a lazy nod. His jaw chewing as though he was attempting to nuzzle down grass.
The stranger who he could vaguely recognise attempted to get him up but he was mostly a dead weight, until he decided to help her. She knew his name so she couldn’t be all that bad. He attempted to get up; his muscles feeling weak as he pushed up from the ground and staggered forward as he rose from a semi crouched position. Dainton moved forward and swayed as he almost nose dived into the wall. Instead, he grabbed a hold of the brunette and used her to steady his balance. ”Who are you?” He asked clearly confused as he took a swig of the vodka bottle which he clung to. ”You know he’s not coming back. And Jake’s not getting out.” He mumbled slightly, as he swayed and then staggered backwards.
His back hit the wall and his eyes rolled back in his head. ”I’m going to die. I’m dying, I’m coming soon Lukas.” Dainton’s voice was panicked; his speech accelerated and mumbled as he twitched agitatedly. He was frightened and spaced out; the drugs he’d taken causing panic and agitation. The boy wasn’t used to feeling so out of control. Even at his worst in the past he’d never felt so unwell after taking drugs. It just wasn’t right. He began to scratch his arm; his bare wet arm; appearing as though he was trying to remove something from it. He could see little spiders crawling over his skin; but there was nothing there. He hit at his arm and began to yell; Dainton was scared of spiders, something many people didn’t know about. ”Get them off me! They are going to kill me!” He yelled, almost begging the girl to help.
Dainton wanted nothing more to be at home, sleeping off his trip but he knew he couldn’t return home tonight; not after the conversation he’d had with his father- he knew it wouldn’t stop. Not even when he returned home off his face. He knew he’d get it in the neck; get the blame for his brother’s death- all because his kidney wasn’t a match, and he couldn’t save Lukas’s life. Ultimately that’s what it all came down to.

you're the one that i should never take, but i can't sleep until i devour you - - - - - In all honesty, if this were a regular day, where it wasn’t raining and Katya didn’t have a blowout with her mother about her low life of a father, and Dainton wasn’t on the floor with some blood streaming out of his body, it was possible that Katya would have walked right past him. Sure she knew who he was exactly because he was one of the ‘gods’ at school, but Dainton and Katya rarely ever spoke, period. In the four years of being at Harbour, they probably had a scarce number of classes together, but nothing really ever came out of one or the other’s mouth besides a simple ‘hi’ or ‘excuse me’. One thing Katya did know for sure was that Dainton and Serena have been involved and un-involved for quite some time now. She remembered how much Serena would talk about him and how great he was, but from the looks Katya had at the present time, he didn’t seem so great. Katy knew that Serena did care about him, so that only added to the reasons why she should help the kid out. No one deserved to be left alone in a condition like Dainton’s even if it was their choice in the first place.
As Katya tried lifting up the jock, she definitely realized sooner than later that she wasn’t as strong as she tried to be. Her arms did their best to lift him up, but she only managed to move his shoulders forward while the rest of his body continued to be stretched out on the cold wet pavement. Suddenly, she felt him slowly but surely rise up as she took in a deep breath for the last pull able to make Dainton rise to his feet, sort of. He almost fell and Katya was worried he’d hurt himself but instead he managed to use her slim body for support, causing Katya to almost fall back, but luckily she was able to withstand. She heard him question who she was and this made Katya questioned just how bad Dainton was. “It’s me Katya, from Harbour” she said waving a hand in his face trying to see how much delay there would be from the popular senior. She saw him take another sip of the bottle and furrowed her brows a little upset that he wanted to continue his drug abuse. She snatched the bottle away from him “ok, I think you’ve had enough” she said tossing it on the sand.
Katya then proceeded to hear about someone ‘not coming back’ and a guy named ‘Jake’ not getting out. She really didn’t know what else to say besides “I’m sorry to hear that Dainton, but we need to get you some help right now” she said as the rain continued pouring on the both of them. Dainton continued to step back against the wall and talk about death, worrying Katya even more, what was this kid on? It clearly wasn’t about alcohol anymore. She knew people had bad trips but this was insane. Katya covered her mouth when Dainton began incessantly scratching himself claiming to ‘get them off of him, and then she knew that it had to be hard drugs, perhaps LSD? She grabbed the sides of his face gently and said “Dainton, look at me, I’m Katya, you’re having a really bad trip off something right now and we need to get you someplace dry and safe, ok?” she said looking at him right in the eyes. “I’m going to get you help ok? Come on” Katya said as she put Dainton’s arm around her shoulder as she wrapped her arm around his waist trying her best to get him back to her car as quick as possible, she had to take him to the hospital…..

The jock was beyond ridiculous, and it was through no fault but his own. Granted what had happened to him had been as a result of arguments with his father and what not which had led him to taking drugs in the first place, but he was the one who’d gone out of his way to find and take drugs, instead of ringing Serena or one of his other friends and actually ranting things out. But that was Dainton’s problem; he was a secretive guy and most of his friends had no clue about this side to him. He kept himself to himself and that included the big part of his life when he’d taken drugs. Serena was one of the only people who knew a bit about things, and sort of why he’d left Chicago; but she too was clueless as to the fact that her boyfriend; who played on two sports teams and surfed every day, was also a junkie. He knew if it all got out then he’d be a regular joke and his popularity status would go from hero to zero in less than a day and that was something he just couldn’t deal with.
But it wasn’t as though he was going to get himself clean; he’d been saying it for some time now and if truth be told things were only getting worse. This was one of the first times since coming to California that he’d actually hooked up alone, and ended up in this state. He frowned as he swayed a little, standing upright using Katya for support. She told him her name and he frowned again. ”Kat…ya… I don’t really know you.” He mumbled jerking his head away from her hand- evidently a delayed response since his reaction speeds were all down. She snatched the vodka bottle away from him and he frowned lazily, ”But Kat I’m thirsy.” He whined and pouted, something that was considered sexy except when he was off his mind like right now.
Dainton’s eyes began to water and tears cascaded down his cheeks as she told him she was sorry. He just wanted his older brother. Five years did not make things easier. It only made him realise what else he was missing. ”But why? Why him? I’d have given him my kidney but I wasn’t a match.” He sobbed as he rambled on. He quickly became agitated and as the spiders took over his body, Dainton became so distressed it was difficult for him to comprehend the pretty brunette trying to help him. He began to hyperventilate in a way which only made him panic more. She took his face and tried to help him. He started to calm down but it was a slow process; he’d been through a lot and right now Katya wasn’t making sense. He nodded and repeated her words, ”Okay. Okay.” Dainton stumbled with her to the car and fell into the passenger seat; his eyes rolling back into his head as he rested himself against the seat.”It’ll all be over soon” He sobbed.

you're the one that i should never take, but i can't sleep until i devour you - - - - - Problems: something that every individual in the world had but rarely ever wanted. If it was up to most people, their lives would be perfect and carefree, but it wasn’t really up to them. Question was, who was it really up too then? It was out of an individual’s control, their destiny. However, what a person could control was how they reacted towards it, how they handled it, and how they got through it. Coping methods ranged from counting to 10 in a corner, dancing till your legs gave out, drinking until you blacked out, or even taking it a step further into hard drugs, that could possibly scar someone for life. Katya sure as hell was far from perfect or at least far from trying.
Her family history involved many things that she wished she could change into a happily ever after story, but she couldn’t. Destiny wouldn’t let her. So she did a few different things to cope. Sometimes she danced until she could fill a cup with her sweat, or maybe headed to a party and drink until she needed to be helped to the nearest comfortable bed, but the ‘worst’ thing she probably did was smoke weed. All kind, all colors, except the ones that were laced. She had the same dealer since she started going to Harbour and trusted him. Something that Dainton shouldn’t do with his dealer or whoever the person was that gave him the intense drug he had consumed.
When Dainton expressed his unfamiliarity with Katya, it didn’t surprise her, but at that moment, she was the only person in sight that could help him, so she didn’t really care whether they were enemies or best friends at the time. The alcohol he was combining in his system sure as hell wasn’t helping him recall anything so she immediately got rid of it. “They’ll give you some water at the hospital Dainton, you don’t need that sh*t right now” she said a little irritated by how stubborn he was being, not all of it being his fault. Katya bit her lip as the rain continued pouring over them with no mercy, hearing Dainton’s continued confession.
After standing there a few more seconds, they were finally making their way over to Katya’s car, Katya trying to be as careful as possible with Dainton. As he plopped in her seat, Katya fastened his seat belt and closed the passenger door making her way to her side and getting in turning on the engine quickly and flipping on the windshield wipers. After this day was over Katya immediately knew that a pack of cigarettes would clearly be needed after an episode like this. “Just stay awake Dainton….please” she said biting her lip feeling her face flush and her eyes get watery as she tried to get to the hospital as quickly and safely as possible.
Upon arriving, Katya helped Dainton get out of her car and walked him in looking around for some help noticing the stares she was getting from everybody in the lobby. A doctor quickly approached them and took Dainton with him, leaving Katya in the waiting room….scared.
