LIKES: Winter, tea, art, cleanliness, literature, her students, the countryside
DISLIKES: Mushrooms, loud people, gossip, parties, promises
STRENGTHS: Imaginative, sensitive, sympathetic, gentle, patient, friendly, articulate
WEAKNESSES: Secretive, weak willed, gullible, idealistic, vague, a little ditzy
GOALS: Become a published author, find a (nice) boyfriend, buy her own home
FEARS: Her students failing and giving her a bad reputation
SECRET(S): When she was sixteen, she tried to rebel and as such, she's gotten herself a small tattoo on her right hip.
OVERALL: Emma really is a lovely woman. She has a gentle and malleable nature, she can easily adapt and change. She's generous, friendly, good natured, kind and compassionate. She has a sort of sixth sense in the way that she can tend to pick up on the emotions of those around her and she is a very good listener, often feeling flattered when one of her students come to her with a problem and she will happily sit down and try to help them as best she can.
She's quiet but that doesn't mean she's a pushover. While others may see her as such, she isn't easily pushed around. Emma is a delicate young woman. She is usually the only one to blush in her group of friends or fine a crude joke overly offensive. She is also smart, easily smarter than a lot of people. In fact, all of her family are rather clever and they all have a lot of qualifications between them. Emma is also creative. Her subject, English, can be boring but she always concocts new and unusual classroom exercises to try and engage her students, get them excited about learning and wanting them to succeed.

HISTORY: Emma had always wanted to be a teacher.
Growing up in a sleepy village in Oxfordshire, England, Emma was always ambitious. She graduated her all girls high school with one of the top grades. University offers soon flooded in, even from ones she hadn't applied to. She had been overzealous and applied to the best schools in the country; Oxford, Cambridge, Warwick and Durham. It had been an agonising wait for the reply letters but they came one Spring morning and to her surprise, she'd been accepted into all four universities. Running to her parents, they gave her a big hug and told her that the decision she had to make was hers and hers alone. It didn't take long for her realise she wanted to follow in her father's footsteps and attend Cambridge.
Making friends for her wasn't easy. She wasn't used to being around people with so much money but they couldn't afford any manners. Her father was a doctor but she was raised well, she hadn't been allowed to splash her money. She'd gotten into this prestigious school on her own merit, on her own grades and she wanted to make sure everyone knew that.
When her second year rolled around, she had herself her first boyfriend, a tall and handsome posh boy names Jeremy Hart. He was her college's heart throb. The girls she shared a dorm with sighed when he came to pick her up for dinner. Emma was thrilled; she hadn't quite grown into her looks yet. At eighteen, her legs were still too long for her, her hair was a little bushy and hadn't worn a stylish pair of glasses just yet. Still! Jeremy must have liked her, right?
Wrong.
They dated for a few months but one night in the student bar, she'd been dragged out by her friends. She wasn't there long before she saw Jeremy. Her Jeremy. Lovely tall, strong Jeremy who was in the Cambridge rowing team, pressed up against some blonde harlot with his hands on her thighs and his tongue down her throat. Gasping, she felt her heart break and then sink as she saw the scene play out. She felt cold. Her friends soon realised when they called and she didn't answer, she was frozen to the spot. She was stunned. She didn't know what to do but she started to cry and wanted to get the heck out of that bar and back to her dorm. In her hurry to leave, she accidentally pushed by the girl and she broke the kiss, allowing Jeremy to see her. Once outside, the tears began to flow as she blindly stumbled around and down the road with Jeremy calling after her, trying to grab her arm and explain that he was drunk and it didn't mean anything. Finally, she snapped. She was no longer poor, sweet Emma. No, on that night, she turned into powerful, strong, take-no-shit Emma Anderson. Breaking free of his grip, she turned and punched him squarley on the nose and told him it was over.
After that and well into her third year, Emma's grades had dropped because she couldn't focus. She returned home for the weekend and her father was the one to sit her down and finally break her out of her funk. He was right. Jeremy was nothing, she was so much better than he was! The wake up call was needed and after that, she studied hard and managed to pull her grades up in record time and graduate with a double first in English Literature.
Straight after her graduation and now twenty-one, Emma got her first teaching job at a little village primary school. She enjoyed it but she felt as though her talents were wasted. She stayed there for three years until, at twenty four, she decided she needed to hone her skills. When she was out shopping one afternoon, she came home to find a letter in a cream envelope, handwritten and from America. She never got international mail. Curious, she flipped it over and opened it to find a letter from Harbor Academy in Orange County, California. Reading on, she discovered that the principle wanted to offer her a job. It was advertised just as a three month position, a trade as the existing English teacher had been offered a position in England and it was now vacant and they hoped she'd be able to take it. She'd never been to America before. It was a no brainer, she was going to California! After giving the principle a call and agreeing to take the job, her visa was all sorted. She said goodbye to her family and started a new chapter in her life as the new English teacher at Harbor Academy.
