[/blockquote][/blockquote][/justify]Cassie flipped the channel for what must have been the twentieth time in a half an hour. Staring at her television in border line hatred, she finally came to the conclusion that there was nothing on and more importantly, that she was bored. This never happened. Cassie was never bored. Cassie was a girl who always had some place to be, whether it was for her mother’s newest fashion line, a party in celebration of her father’s best selling article, or a party at one of her friend’s. She was used to complaining how she never had time to sit down and relax. Now she was complaining about the exact opposite. She had too much time on her hands and frankly, she didn’t know what to do with herself.
Until, that is, she received a text message. Curiously and almost desperately, Cassie reached for her phone and read the message. It was from Luke, requesting that she accompany him to the Equinox Nightclub. She sighed. Of all the clubs in California, he had to pick Equinox? She couldn’t even begin to count how many times she’d been there, mainly for either of her parents’ businesses. An invite was an invite though and without a second thought, Cassie thumbed back a reply and stood from her bed to get dressed. Black, black, and more black she decided. A black sequin dress hugged her curves nicely followed with black leggings to shadow and mystify her long pale legs and a pair of black pumps to tie it all together. She’d always been told that the color black flattered her body well. Then again, Cassie was convinced that nearly every color could flatter her tall, lean body well.
Getting into Equinox was like stealing candy from a baby. She hardly needed a fake ID, since the bouncer on shift practically knew her by name. He even greeted her, which was a nice start to what was promising to be an eventful evening. The club was surprising crowded for a Friday night. Mostly everybody came on Saturday and mostly then it was so crowded that people were lined up around the corner to get in. Tonight, it wasn’t as crowded, but it was still quite difficult to navigate her way over to the bar, where she was certain she was supposed to rendezvous. As she glided across the dance floor, Cassie twirled and jetted out her hips when the music called for it. She laughed and danced, but alas arrived at her destination. The bar was considerably dim compared to the dance floor, which made her dress sparkle less. She didn’t like that. At all. She specifically wore sequin to give off a radiant shine.
However, then what was a dress compared to a smile? As she was greeted by the bartender, she smiled politely. “I’ll take a Manhattan,†she said, feeling less like getting drunk and more like she should be the one to stay sober. A man nearby her whistled and then offered up a toast. A woman, whom Cassie presumed was his girlfriend the way she was hanging onto him, joined in and soon the whole bar was raising their glasses. Even Cassie raised hers and took a large sip, having absolutely no idea what she was toasting to. But since when did she need an actual reason?
